Our Word "Magic"

Our word "magic" comes from the word "magus" describing the great one who held the secret knowledge. It was the knowledge that brings power with it. It was the knowledge that commanded the inner-world from which most of what we value has come, including our technology.

Magic has had a bad connotation for being divorced from morality, and so we remember tales of cruelty and selfishness. The wife that was left for years while her husband was in the crusades, attempted to preserve her youth by bathing in the blood of infants.
